Cookie Policy

Last updated:

This page lists every cookie used on this website — which ones exist, who sets them, what they are for, and how to refuse them. It is deliberately specific rather than generic: it describes this site and nothing else. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which covers personal data more broadly.

What Cookies Are

A cookie is a small file that a website asks your browser to store on your device. It can be read back on a later request, which lets a site recognise the same browser. Some cookies last only until you close the browser; others persist until they expire or you delete them. Related technologies — local storage, session storage and similar — work differently but raise the same questions, and this policy covers them too.

Third-Party Cookies

Two Google services are embedded on our Contact page, and both may set cookies on your device. They are the only third parties on this website. We do not set these cookies, cannot read them, and do not control how long they last — Google does, under its own privacy policy:

Google reCAPTCHA
Protects the contact form from automated abuse by distinguishing people from bots. It loads only on the Contact page, and it is required to send the form — the form cannot be submitted without it.
Google Maps
Displays the map in the Contact page sidebar. It loads as soon as that page opens, before you interact with it, and it is presentational — nothing on the site depends on it.

What This Website Does Not Use

Stated explicitly, because a cookie policy that lists things a site does not do is worse than none at all — and because this is what most visitors want to know:

No analytics cookies
There is no Google Analytics and no third-party analytics on this website, and nothing here sets a cookie to measure you. We do keep a simple count of how many times each page is opened, so we can see which pages are useful. It is stored as a daily total per page — the page address, the language, the date, whether the visit came from a phone or a larger screen, and a number — and nothing else: no IP address, no other device or browser details, no identifier, and no record of any individual visit. Nothing in it can be linked to you or used to build a profile.
No advertising or tracking
No advertising cookies, no retargeting, no conversion pixels, and no cross-site tracking of any kind.
No social media pixels
Our LinkedIn link is an ordinary hyperlink. There is no LinkedIn pixel, no embedded feed, and no share widget, so no social network is told that you visited.
No externally hosted fonts
Our typefaces are served from our own servers rather than fetched from a font provider, so loading a page sends no request to a third party for them.

How Long Cookies Last

The lifetimes of the Google cookies described above are set by Google, not by us, and are governed by Google's own policies. We receive, store and retain no data derived from cookies at all. The page-view totals described above are not derived from cookies and contain no personal data — they are daily counts per page — and they are deleted automatically once they age out. Retention periods, both for those totals and for the personal data you send us deliberately such as a CV or an enquiry, are set out in our Privacy Policy.

How to Control or Refuse Cookies

You are in control, and nothing here requires you to accept anything to read the site:

Your browser settings
Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies, either entirely or per website, in its privacy or security settings. Blocking them does not stop you reading any page of this site.
What blocking them affects
Blocking cookies from Google will prevent the contact form from being submitted, because the anti-spam check cannot run, and the map may not display. You can still reach us by email or telephone — both are in the footer of every page.
Google's own controls
Because reCAPTCHA and Maps are Google services, Google's privacy policy and its own privacy controls govern what it does with data collected through them.

Changes to This Policy

We will update this page whenever the cookies used on this website change — for example if a cookie-based analytics tool or another embedded service is ever added. Updates take effect when published here, and the date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.
