Contract staffing in Bulgaria — the risk stays with us.
You need a skill for six months, not six years. We find the contractor, hold the contract, pay them, and send you one invoice. You never contract the individual and you carry none of the employment risk.
When contracting beats hiring
Permanent is right for permanent work. These are the cases where it is not.
The work has an end date
A migration, a launch, a build. Hiring permanently for it creates a problem for later: unnecessary cost and legal complications once the project ends.
You need a skill, briefly
Deep expertise for a few months, of a kind you cannot justify keeping on the payroll. You get the specific skills for exactly as long as the project runs, rather than a permanent financial commitment to someone you will not need year-round.
You have no Bulgarian entity
You want people working in Bulgaria without first setting up a company to employ them.
You do not want the liability
Employment obligations, notice, contributions — none of it should land on you for a short engagement.
Niche expertise, no ramp-up
When your team is missing a specific niche skill. The right answer when the experience is not in-house and you need someone productive from day one — a ready expert for exactly the period you choose, contributing their know-how immediately rather than spending weeks learning yours.
Four steps, one invoice
- 1
Scope the work
What needs building, what skills it takes, how long for, and when it has to be done.
- 2
Find and vet
We put forward contractors we have worked with or vetted ourselves — not names off a database.
- 3
We contract them
The agreement is between StaffUpNext and the contractor. You sign with us, and only with us.
- 4
Deliver and invoice
They work to your direction on your project. We pay them; you receive a single monthly invoice.
Everything except the risk
- Contractors vetted by us, most of them people we have worked with before
- The contract sits between StaffUpNext and the individual, never between you and them
- We pay the contractor — you receive one invoice, monthly
- No employment relationship, no notice obligations, no contributions on your side
- No Bulgarian legal entity required to get people working
- Scale up or down as the project changes, without redundancy
- Replacement handled by us if someone does not work out
- The option to take a contractor permanently, arranged through us
Contracting, answered
Do we contract the freelancer directly?
No, and that is the point of the model. The agreement runs between StaffUpNext and the contractor. You contract only with us and receive a single invoice for the service. You never hold a relationship with the individual, which means you never hold the risk that comes with one.
Is this the same as an Employer of Record?
No. An Employer of Record legally employs someone on your behalf, so they become your worker with a third party carrying the paperwork. Here the contractor is engaged by us, delivering a service to your project. For a defined piece of work it is usually simpler and cheaper than an EOR arrangement — and if what you actually need is a permanent employee, we will tell you that instead.
How do B2B contractors work in Bulgaria?
Most Bulgarian contractors operate through their own single-person company LTD (EOOD) or as registered self-employed professionals (sole-trader). While this model is fully compliant and standard locally, it can feel unfamiliar to some companies. Our hiring guide breaks down each setup and its costs - which is typically a Time and Material (you pay only for the billable hours). In practice, you do not need to manage any local admin or compliance - the contract is directly with us.
How quickly can a contractor start?
Faster than a permanent employee. B2B contractors usually have short notice periods or immediate availability. Unlike full-time staff who are tied to a single employer, contractors often balance multiple client projects, meaning they can jump on board without traditional onboarding delays. The main variable is how specialized the required skills are rather than the paperwork, but we will give you an exact, realistic timeline once we review your project scope and we know what the project needs.
Can we make a contractor permanent later?
Often, yes — it is a common and welcome outcome. Tell us rather than approaching them directly, and we will arrange it. It is treated as a permanent placement with a one-off fee, the same as any other permanent hire we make for you.
What if the contractor is not right?
Tell us early. We encourage open feedback as soon as you notice a mismatch. We always try to address and resolve any initial friction first. Our first priority is always to help realign expectations and work things out. If a fix isn't feasible, we move quickly to source a replacement so your project stays on track. We would much rather swap someone in week two than have you tolerate a poor fit for months. Managing that transition is completely our responsibility, and everything is handled calmly and transparently.
Tell us about the project.
What needs doing, what skills it takes, and by when. We will tell you whether contracting is the right answer — including when it is not.
